Salter Scales in UK WWII War effort

In England during WWII the Britsh War Ministry recalled scales like these and recycled the brass and iron for the war effort.

This restored Salter scale No. 228 is located in the beautiful Block Arcade, Melbourne.

1000 were sent to the colonies by sailing ship around 1900.
